Current Emerging Early Childhood Issues
As a group, we had decided to explore the EC issues of holistic development. During the initial stages of brainstorming, we had concluded some of the possible challenges centres may face are lack of resources, budget and support. This conclusion I believe had been heavily influenced by our perceptions of the Singaporean Government and our limited working experience in the field. Thus, I believe this EC issue may not have been objectively and deeply explored in its initial stages.
Learning points from the interview and feedback from Centre Principal about your suggested
During the interview, I was surprised to discover that most of the possible challenges that I had anticipated were not challenges faced by the centre. It led me to understand some of the more significant issues faces in the EC sector.
I also learned it's important to analyse and sort through the data from an interview or anything in fact. This is because you will be able only to discover in depth issues this way.
The centre principal had approved of our recommendation. However, she had mentioned it can be improved by including the learning cycle into slides. She believes adding the learning cycle would make it more localised and relevant.
Organisational skills
I have learnt when exploring big scale issues, it is vital to be organised. It’s important to organised with the data being collected and understanding the objectives behind them as well.
Through the different stages of capstone project, I had always tried to link it back to the main topic of the issue. This helped me to focus on relevant data and literature.
Communicating skills
I have truly understood how important it is to have connections in the early childhood field. Without the help of the centre, I would have learnt nothing at all.
Problem solving skills
I have develop high order thinking skills through the learnings of this project.
